Inspiring you, your soul through the teachings of Jesus Christ, Evangelist, L. Leigh Sykes
“As I sat on my bench the day was so bright, it was almost magical. There was hope in the air. The sun is warm, the view stretches out in front of me. It felt as if I was seeing the years to come, a vision of the future. I could hear the birds and there was a light wind moving in the branches, along with the faint sounds of the water tumbling in the stream.” Richard Sikes 1598-1676

4/16/25 EASTER week:
I was thinking about the thief who saw all the same things that the other thief saw and yet he realized a whole different way a truth and light. He asked for Jesus to “Remember him when he came into his kingdom”. He did not ask for riches or special favors. Without hesitation Christ told him he would be with him in paradise. He would be in paradise and with Christ!
The garden of Eden was a paradise, where you could walk with the Lord and have communion with him. A place where we had a personal relationship with our creator. The thief was not a Christian he had not been deserving of salvation. Yet in that moment, God had given him faith, then his repentance, saying that he deserved his punishment and declaring to the other thief that “God should be feared,” his sincere belief that Christ was a king. In that redemptive moment, with the saving grace of Christ, he was giving the salvation that we all should desire. A wonderful picture of Jesus love for us. The thief who was in his last hours of life was restored. It is never too late to realize that Christ is the way the truth and the light.
I would ask that when it is my time, that I am not found wanting, and I can stand as I go to meet the Lord.
